A Nail Art Catch Up

Recently I've been doing a lot of nail art again. Painting my nails is something I really enjoy and I always make time for it as I feel like it is my "me time"
Generally people don't understand my "obsession" with nails, but some people like to watch TV to wind down, some listen to music, some have a nap. I paint my  nails.

This design is one by MissJenFabulous on youtube, she has fantastic tutorials and even has a series of videos for beginners which this design is taken from. I changed the colours because i was feeling the blues/greens rather than pinks and ended up looking kind of like grass but i like it none the less.
Essie: Mint Candy Apple
Barry M: Greenberry
Barry M: Guava
Just a random unbranded gold glitter striper

These nails were my freshers week nails for university. I saw the picture on instagram, I don't know who the original credits go to but it's fabulous.
As for as the design goes it looks pretty complicated but its surprisingly not. Just dots and lines.
This design is so much fun and great for summer.
I used a combination of nail stripers and dotting tools to create this.
China Glaze- Pool Party
China Glaze- Turned up Turquoise
Barry M- Matt White
Barry M- Black

This design i just put together myself- no photo used which is unusual for me but something I would love to do more of. I really wanted to do a very simply floral design that was quite vintage too. Something to go with the winged eyeliner red lipstick look and this is what i came up with. Its very simple very easy to do and only requires black and white nail polish. Both of the ones i used are from barry m and i just used a dotting tool to create the flowers

These are nails i did for my flatmate, I wasn't very happy with them but she loved them anyway. They were meant to be mini strawberries but if anyone doesn't see that then my answer is "it's interpretive" These were taken from a picture my flatmate found and I have no idea where she got it from!
I used dotting tools for this design.
OPI - I think in Pink
Barry M- Matt White
Barry M- Blood Orange
Barry M- Key Lime
Sally Hansen-Mellow Yellow

This is one of my favourite nail art designs ever and one of the simplest. No tools required! There's nothing more to really say about this but it's just so elegant and classy looking, perfect for any occasion.
Barry M- Lychee
Barry M- Black
Essie- Beyond Cozy

This semester at university i became involved in the Music Society and there was a british themed concert that I was doing front of house so naturally I had to match my nails to the theme with union jacks. I just used a nail striper for this creating the thicker white lines and then adding the thinner red ones.
Barry M- Blue Plum
Models Own- white light
Models Own- Red Lustre

This design was me just really playing around with gems and i'm unsure if i like them anyway but i thought I'd show you guys anyway.
I just used a dotting tool to create the little flowers and then put a little gem in the middle of each one
Barry M- papaya
Barry M- White

These are my flat mate Katie's nails, she decided she wanted Norwegian flags on her nails because why not. It was very simple and it looks very cute without even looking like flags on her nails. I just used a striper to create two thick white lines and then added the thin blue one on top.
Barry M- blood orange
Models Own- white light
Barry M- Blue Plum

For the first weekend in spring I had to wear florals to my work and while I was painting my nails I thought I'd try and recreate the florals on my dress. I just used dotting tools for this and I was really happy with the way it turned out.
Barry M- Lychee
Barry M- Blood Orange
Barry M- Passion Fruit
Barry- Raspberry
Barry M- Black
Barry M- Key Lime
Rimmel- Sea Green

One of my flatmates friends from the states came and visited us in March and just before she left I painted her nails with a lot of scottish pride as she asked for tartan. We looked up tartan prints online and I asked her to pick one from which I selected an area of the print to recreate on her nails.
Models Own- cornflower gleam
Models Own- white light
Barry M- Black
Models Own- Red Lustre
Sally Hansen- Mellow Yellow

In my searches for a nail art design I wanted to do i found this on youtube. The design turned out lovely and  probably the most painting like nails I've ever done. In the video she uses a nail art brush, I just used dotting tools!
Essie- Where's My Chauffeur
O.P.I- I think in pink
Barry M- Raspberry
(the middle pink was a mixture of the two shades)
Barry M- Key lime
Rimmel- Sea Green

Before we left uni for the summer I promised my flat mate Tala that I would paint minions on her nails. I use the tutorial that MissJenFabulous posted to do this.
Sally Hansen- Mellow Yellow
Barry M- Black
Models Own- white light
Barry M- Blue Plum
O.P.I- French Quarter For Your Thoughts

This design and the following one are both from pictures i found on instagram and I'm afraid I have no idea who created them. However It is super cute. I think the combination of the flowers stripes and dots is just so cute.
Barry M- Papaya
Models Own- White Light
Barry M- Huckleberry
Barry M- Peach Melba
Barry M- Sugar Apple

The more i look at this picture the more I like this design. The pale pink base isn't something i usually go for but i think it looks so cute with the purple roses.
Barry M- Rose Hip
Barry M- Prickly Pear
Maybelline- Ice Queen

And that concludes my nail art catch up, this is almost every nailart design I've created/recreated since the end of last summer! Hope you like these kind of posts and I'm sure it wont be long until another nail art post!

P.S. Sorry it's been so long since i posted!

A Floral Nail Art Fortnight

Hello lovelies
A couple weeks a go I did a post called A Nail Art Week and you all seemed to like it so this is kind of a sequel to that.
I've been doing nail art all the time, I haven't had plain nails for over a month now! I just love looking down at my nails and seeing a pretty design.
I have four designs to show you all of which are floral! I didn't do it on purpose I just seem to be loving the flowers.
Same as the last one, none of these are actually my designs, I wish they were and hopefully soon I'll get creative enough to create my own.

Please excuse the not so great quality of this photo
This design I saw on youtube somewhere and I can't find it again to link for you! sorry
Nail Polishes Used
Essie: Mint Candy Apple
Rimmel: Nail Tip Whitener
Sally Hansen: Mellow Yellow

I just used dotting tools for this design. I used a larger one for the centre of the flower using the yellow and then using a smaller dotting tool and the white i dotted right next to the centre and dragged it out to create the daisy petals.

This design here Is from BubzBeauty (Tutorial Here)
I changed it ever so slightly by doing polka dots on both my middle and pinky but that's it

Nail Polishes
Rimmel: Nail tip Whitener
Barry M: Passion Fruit
Barry M: Peach Melba
Champneys: Shadow

Only tools I used were dotting tools. With a large one I created the flower "blobs" and the using a smaller one I dotted the centres and drew the little stems.

This design I saw on Instagram and thought it was really pretty. Excuse the slight mess, I hadn't cleaned them up yet.
Nail polishes
Barry M: Blue Plum
Rimmel: Nail Tip Whitener
Sally Hansen: Mellow Yellow

Again I just used dotting tools
I dotted the centres and the did 5 dots around the yellow and using a dotting tool I have which is just like a sharp point i dragged away the nail polish to create a more petal look. You could easily use a tooth pick for this.

Finally, my favourite and what is currently on my nails. This design is again from BubzBeauty (tutorial Here)
Polishes Used
Rimmel: Nail Tip Whitener
Barry M: Peach Melba
Essie: Mint Candy Apple
Barry M: Shocking Pink
Rimmel: Sea Green

Like all the others, I used dotting tools. For the roses, Using a large dotting tool and the colour Peach Melba I create the blob, that's all it is really. The using the nail art dotting tool I have that is just a sharp point I create squiggly lines with shocking pink around the blob to create a rose effect. Finally using the green i made little leaves.

What one do you like best?

A Nail Art Week

Hello lovelies

I have been absolutely loving nail art recently so I thought I'd show you what I've done in the past week and the polishes I used to create them

I saw a picture on Instagram and thought it looked so pretty
The polishes used are
Barry M Gelly Hi Shine- Prickly Pear
Rimmel Nail Tip Whitener
O.P.I - Designer de better
Champneys- Shadow

As for tools I used 2 different sized dottings tools. A larger one to create the "splodges" for the leopard print and a tiny one to outline with the black

This design is one of MissJenFabulous' (tutorial link here). My dotting tools just arrived this week so this was my first design with them.
Polishes are
Rimmel tip whitener
Essie- Funny Face
Essie- Bikini so teeny
Essie- Mint Candy Apple
Maybelline Color Show- Urban Coral
Again I used 2 different sized dotting tools, a large one and a medium sized one.
This design is pretty self explanatory on how you do it but obviously you can head over to MissJenFabulous' tutorial for a step by step.
Here we have my first ever attempt at ombré nails and I think it went pretty well! I love the combination of the colours and I Think it just looks pretty cool.
Nail polishes used in this one are
Rimmel Nail tip whitener
Revlon- Fearless
Revlon- Siren
Sally Hanson- Mellow Yellow

To create this i first painted my nails white then painted a stripe of each colour on a makeup sponge before applying it to my nails.

This aztec design i've done on my nails before but in black and white and I can't remember where I saw a picture of it but again this is not my own design.
To Create this I used 2 Barry M Gelly Hi Shine polishes in the colours "Lychee" and "Greenberry". I used a nail striper and dipped it into the green to create the pattern.

Lasr but not least I finally mastered the art of water marbelling! This is the first time I've done it successfully and I'm so happy with it! I get so excited looking at my nails!
The nail polishes I used are Maybelline Color Show: Cool blue, O.P.I: Yoga-ta get this blue

So which ones your favourite?
Don't forget to follow me on Bloglovin' for all my updates!

Hope you are all having a fantastic day!

May Favourites!

Hello lovelies
Time for my May favourites! I don't think I've done a favourites post before!

Beauty

Here are all my beauty favs for the past month!
For nail polish I have picked Seche Vite top coat, Bikini So Tini from Essie and Fairy Dust from China Glaze. I got these in Florida and have just been absolutely loving them. Featured in this Haul with prices etc.
I have one skincare item which is my clinique moisturiser. I got this about 3 months ago and it really has made a huge difference to my skin. Definitely would like to try some more clinique skincare products.
For my Eyeshadow I have my beloved Naked 2 Palette. I have loved this ever since I got it in January. The colours are so beautifully pigmented and perfect for any look. Swatches here.
I have my rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner in Nude. I love putting this on my waterline. I literally use this everyday I wear makeup.
I then have 2 of the Maybelline Color Tattoos in Bad to the Bronze and Barley Branded. I have worn one of these two almost everyday since I got them. They are feature in this haul which has prices and where I got them along with the next few items. They are just beautiful as bases or on their on. Bad to the Bronze is a lovely neutral bronze and Barley Branded is a gorgeous champagne colour.
For lips my two favourites have been the L'oreal color riche in 172 Blushing Sequin and Maybelline Babylips in Cherry Me. They colours are quite similar in the swatch picture below but on the lips Blushing Sequin is a very wearable bright pink because of it's slight sheer glossy finish and Cherry Me is a sheer red.
I've also been loving NYX blusher in Peach, It just gives a beautiful flush to the cheeks and Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara. One of my favourite mascaras I've ever tried, it just makes my eyelashes look long and voluminous with zero clumping!
I find it really difficult to find foundations I like but this month I have found two! Rimmel Wake me up foundation is great for every day and is a very reasonable price and Laura Mercier is a pricey foundation but perfect for high coverage and for special occasions.

Rimmel Eyeliner in Nude
Maybelline Color Tattoo: Bad to the Bronze
                                             Barley Branded
NYX Blusher in Peach
This picture is definitely upside down but never mind!
On the left is Maybelline Babylips in Cherry Me
On the right is L'oreal Color Riche in Blushing Sequin

All three Nail Polishes Together. 3 Coats on Bikini So Tini (could get away with 2) 1 coat of Fairy Dust and a coat of Seche Vite.

Fashion

For my sort of Fashion Favourties I have my white converses. I got these in Florida and I've never owned converse before but I am in Love! They are so comfortable and go with everything!
My shorts from Asda. I LOVE these. They were so cheap but I wore them all the time when I was in Florida and I'm not usually a shorts kinda girl like I usually don't even take any shorts!
Lastly is This Necklace from Forever 21

Finally my other favourite is my Dog <3
Max is 7 years old and is a beautiful Golden cocker Spaniel who never lost his puppy cuteness! Isn't he just adorable. I always wonder if other people think he's as cute as I do or if i'm just biased!

Sunbathing in the garden together. Best Buds!

Hope you all had an amazing May! It was probably my favourite Month of the year so far and here's to a healthy happy amazing June!

Florida Haul: Part 1- Nail Polish

Well hello there! It's been quite some time since I did my last proper post, but I'm back!

It is no secret that I am a nail polish junkie/hoarder so how could I resist with Americas cheap prices when I was in Florida?
As a little disclaimer I did buy everything myself with my own money I eared while working over Christmas except the O.P.I nail polishes which were a gift from my granny :)
Anyway we are just going to get right to it because I have 14 nail polishes to show you! That's like one for every day of my holiday, woops.

Showing the most boring one first, I got Seche Vite and oh I'm so in love, I don't know how I've lived so long without it, It truly works Miracles! I got this at Publix and i think I paid around $8 for it.

This is the colour Fearless from Revlon, It's a beautiful red that i got from Walmart for only $3.97!!!! How is that fair?! they are £6.99 in boots!!

So being the price that they were I couldn't just get one, I also got this orange which is "Siren" and I love it, I'm loving the brights!

This maybelline colour show nail polish I got at Walmart again for $2.99, the colour is "Iced Queen" and is a beautiful cool toned purple, soo pretty!

Now Sally Hanson is a brand we do get in the UK but only a select few products and they are all more nail care. So when i saw the range of colours I had to get a couple! This is "Mellow Yellow", a bright lemon colour and i love it but haven't worn it yet! It was $2.49 from Target

This nail polish excites me, It's holographic so why wouldn't it? I LOVE the look of this however I'm not sure how much I'll wear it but I think it'd look super cool over Silver Nail Polish. This is called " In The Spotlight" - $2.48 from Walmart

This is such an exciting colour, It's like neon although it doesn't come across so bright on camera but boy I was surprised when i put this on my nails! I got this for $4.99 ! from Publix and it is China Glaze "Turned up Turquoise" I love it although it has a strange finish, It's got a slight shimmer/sheen but when it dries its like sort of matte, can you have matte with sheen? but I just put a top coat on and it was super glossy and gorgeous!

Now it's time to take a moment and fall in love with this china glaze polish called Fairy Dust, it is holographic again and is a really finely milled glitter polish that just adds a beautiful sparkle to any nail polish, It was love at first sight! I got this again for $4.99 from Publix

Onto Essie, I FINALLY got my hands on Bikini So Teeny and it just the most perfect pastel blue, It's so pretty! It has a slight shimmer in it as well but the most perfect combination is this with Fairy Dust on top of it, Honestly you will never want to take it off! I got this at Walmart I think for $7.75

Then I got Essie's Lilacism, which as you probably can see and from the name is a beautiful lilac, It's so lovely and pastel and perfect! I think I got this at Walmart too for $7.75

The last Essie Polish I picked up is "Penny Talk" a metallic like bronzy rose gold. I Seriously wore this on my toes for like the entire holiday, It's so pretty and you can get away doing only one coat! BONUS. I got this one at Target for $7.79

O.P.I time! This B-E-A-U-tiful colour is "Yoga-ta Get This Blue" Omg this is my fav blue nail polish ever! It's like the blue version of "Tomorrow Never Dies" which is my fav nail polish of all time basically. Its just so gorgeous. All the O.P.I nail polishes were $8.50 from the Duty Free at Sandford Airport

Heres it on my nails, how gorgeous?!

This bright pink is called "Pompeii Purple" It really doesn't photgraph well but it's a bright like fushia pink with purpley/blue duochrome, It's gorgeous however! If this is your kinda thing I think it is very very similar to the Maybelline Color Show polish in "Speeding Light" (comparison is on my instagram @lifesglitters)But that is a much cheaper alternative
Lastly there is " I think in Pink" Which is kind of like a Candyfloss Pink, Its lovely anyhow and very opaque!

That was all the polishes! I know I have a problem but oh well, I love all the polishes I got and I'm so happy with them!
I Will have part 2 Florida haul up in the next couple of days as well.

Hope you're having a fantastic day!

Nails of the Week

Hello beautiful people!

I am a complete nail junkie so I change my nail polish pretty frequently like every 3 days tops! This week I changed my nails 4 times which i know is rather a lot but i can't help it!

I started this week with "urban coral" from the Maybelline Color Show
Its just basically a really nice bright but not too bright coral

I then had quite a change and went to "tomorrow never dies" from the James Bond collection that O.P.I came out with. I cant tell you enough how much I love this nail polish! I genuinely would say it is my favourite and when you have the amount of nail polish I do that is certainly something!

Then I went for this glitter tips ombré type nails, They didn't turn out the way I wanted but I wore them for a day or two anyway! The nude is just a random nail polish from FCUK that I don't know the name of and the glitter is "gold glitter" (inventive right) from Barry M

And Lastly these are my nails now! This is the colour "She's pampered" from Essie's winter collection but in my head this colour works for spring and summer just as well as it did for winter!

Whats your favourite nail polish of the moment? Let me know because I love talking about nails and things!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! I sure will because the sun is finally out in Scotland! Wow what?! Sun in Scotland!? YES!
